I purchased this insulated travel mug for my coffee and was very impressed at the length of time it kept my coffee hot. I was so impressed I purchased more for family and friends and also gave them as Christmas gifts. It kept my coffee hotter than any travel mug I've every owned. Keep the flip down drinking cover closed when not drinking your coffee and it will stay hot for hours (you'll use the flip cover as a finger grip when drinking). The only strike is that it's not leakproof. A little high in price but WORTH EVERY PENNY.
This was the first Nissan Steel product I bought about seven years ago. it keeps the coffee warm until I finish it in 2hrs+.
We bought this as a gift from my daughter to her grandfather for Christmas. It LEAKS. I was concerned because of the reviews but it is the only 18 ounce I found and my husband thought this was the best size. Read the reviews(ratings1,2) and beware.
It's just too gross to keep using. The mug isn't spill proof and liquid will spill out of the cup even if the spout cover is on, but only if you fill it all the way to the top. My coffee stays really hot for quite a while. I wish Nissan Thermos would fix this. I loved its insulating properties so much I bought another one. I'm going to be looking for a different travel mug that doesn't have the plastic ring on it.
It's almost impossible to wash out because you can't get under the ring to scrub the coffee out. There is a NON-REMOVABLE silicone ring inside the mug at the top of the cup that traps liquid inside. I discovered this with my first mug when I noticed after a while that there was a funny smell to my coffee and mug. I washed out the O-ring in the lid, and scrubbed the mug, but it persisted. I have owned two of these Nissan Thermos travel mugs now and have loved the insulating properties boasted by the company. I tried my best to scrape as much of the brown stuff out as I could but couldn't ever really bring myself to use the mug again. I thought perhaps it was a defect with that particular cup.
It has the same problem. Coffee gets trapped underneath and bacteria begins to grow. Imagine my disgust when the toothpick came out covered with brown, smelly goo. The main problem I have with the mug, is for me, insurmountable. Perhaps, if you soak the mug in warm soapy water immediately after each use, it might stay ok.
Then, I noticed the plastic ring on top and decided on a whim to slide a flat toothpick underneath to see if it was a tight seal. Apparently the seal wasn't tight. But given that it's a travel mug, I'm usually not at home once I've finished the coffee I brought with me. I truly do love all the other aspects of the mug, hence the three stars instead of 1.
seemed like a good cup at first but after a while i would gag from drinking from it. it lost it's heat holding capacity and made me gag every time i took a sip from it.
